CD Art Projects

In this project, the students design production art for music CD packaging. The production art can be a little hard to understand because it is laid out for ease of printing, not for previewing. The first image in each group is the front and back of the booklet that goes in the front of the jewel case. The second image is the inside spread of that booklet (if you took the booklet out of the jewel case and opened it up). The third image is the "tray card" which is the piece of art that sits under the tray that holds the CD. The artwork on the tray card faces outward (which is the back of the jewel case) and has skinny pieces on either side that fold up to become the spines of the jewel case. The last image is the art that gets printed on the actual CD.

In the following CD projects, the booklet that goes in the front of the jewelcase has 6 panels instead of 4, so it gets folded up a little differently, otherwise the concept is the same.
