Anne
Whattoff is the Executive
Director of PACEM. Ms. Whattoff received
her B.A. in Music from San Diego State
University where she went on to complete
a year of post-graduate work in
Ethnomusicology. She holds a California
Teaching Credential in Music from
National University
Over the past
twelve years, Ms. Whattoff has amassed
extensive experience directing and
accompanying choirs. She was Accompanist
and Assistant Director for Mary, Star of
the Sea; Assistant Director for SDSU
Concert Choir under the direction of Dr.
Frank Almond; the Chorus Director for
the SDSU Opera Theatre; and the Director
of the SDSU University Women's Chorus.
She taught Music Appreciation for
Education American University. For four
and a half years, Ms. Whattoff was the
choir director at West Hills High
School, a program with five choirs
including Concert Choir, Jazz, and
Chamber Ensembles. Every year, her
touring groups collaborated with the
Drama and Instrumental music programs to
put on a fully orchestrated show under
her musical direction. This past year
she served as Director of the San Diego
Children’s Choir in which she worked
with children of various age groups,
from first grade up through high
school. Last season, with PACEM’s help,
SDCC joined with St. Paul’s Boy and Girl
choirs to perform Benjamin Britten’s
Noye’s Fludde, under the direction
of Steven Sturk. This colorful
children’s opera involved cast of over
one hundred, and was a special
opportunity to expose young singers to
professional vocalists and orchestra,
and to a truly great work.
Ms. Whattoff
is a professional soprano who currently
performs with the Cathedral Choir and
Schola for St. Paul's Cathedral under
the direction of Martin Green, and the
Bach Collegium of San Diego under the
direction of Ruben Valenzuela.
