SDUHSD Honor Band

About the Program:

The SDUHSD High School and Middle School Honor Bands are made up of the finest musicians in our school district. The Honor Band environment provides students with a challenging environment in which they are encouraged to learn a higher level repetoire, while getting to know their fellow classmates. All SDUHSD band students are encouraged to audition for this wonderful experience.

2009 SDUHSD Honor Band:


The SDUHSD Music Staff is excited to announce our 2009 guest conductors. Dr. Ella Steinberg will be leading our middle school honor band and Jay Chattaway will direct our high school honor band.

Auditions will take place atCanyon Crest Academy Saturday Dec. 13th. All SDUHSD students who are currently enrolled in a music class are encouraged to audition for this years honor bands.

Middle School Audition Excerpts:

In addition to your excerpts be prepared to sight read a few measures and play your Bb, Eb, Ab & chromatic scales (Scales should be tongued and played with a steady tempo)

High School Audition Excerpts:

In addition to your excerpts be prepared to sight read a few measures and play any of your major scales & chromatic. (Scales should be tongued and played with a steady tempo)

Practice- Please be sure to learn your music before our first rehearsal

Concert Attire- Please follow the concert attire guidelines established by your school site.

Concert Reception- We ask that families help provide treats for the reception following the concert.
