| Local Music Programs | |
| San Diego Youth Symphony | The San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory gives talented student and pre-professional musicians an opportunity to study and perform classical repertoire at a highly advanced level. The sixth oldest continuously operating youth orchestra in the United States, the SDYS program has three full symphony orchestras and a chamber orchestra at the advanced level, and four large ensembles for students at the intermediate and introductory levels. In addition, the organization supports a string quartet, woodwind quartet, flute choir, brass choir, two French Horn ensembles, an advanced percussion ensemble, and brass quintet. |
| UCSD Summer Jazz Camp | Spend a week with some great local artists. Participate in small ensembles covering standard jazz tunes and music classes ranging from theory to private lessons. This is a wonderful and very local opportunity for TPHS jazz musicians. |

| Interlochen Arts Camp | In 1928, Joseph E. Maddy‘s dream of a permanent training ground for young artists was realized in the formation of the National High School Orchestra Camp at Interlochen (MI). Today, Interlochen Center for the Arts is well established as one of America‘s true cultural treasures, continuing as the country‘s premier site for young musicians, dancers, actors, visual artists and writers to explore and develop their talents. June-August. |
| Arrowbear Music Camp | Arrowbear Music Camp is now in its 6th decade of providing a music camp experience. Located in the San Bernardino Mountains, all campers are involved in musical and social experiences encouraging beautiful music, great friends and timeless memories. Sessions offered include elementary (grades 4-6), intermediate (grades 6-8), and advanced (grades 9-11). Discounts and scholarships are available. |
| Berklee Summer Program | You probably know that Berklee College of Music is the premier institution in the world for the study of contemporary music. But you might not realize that in addition to its full-time degree and diploma programs, Berklee also offers a wide selection of summer programs for qualified participants who are not enrolled at the college. Berklee‘s summer programs vary in emphasis and range in length from one weekend to five weeks, or even a full twelve-week summer semester. One or more may be right for you. |
| Biola Youth Instrumental Music | BYIM presents Summer Music Camp on campus at Biola University. The camp is for students ages 10-18. Based on audition, students will be placed into Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and/or Jazz Band. Students will also participate in music theory and history classes, games, guest musician concerts, and special outings including a trip to the Hollywood Bowl. Early registration discount. |
| Brubeck Institute Jazz Camp | The Brubeck Institute Jazz Camp provides student musicians (grades 8-12, of intermediate to advanced skill level) with an intensive one-week exposure to jazz. Produced in association with the Pacific Music Camp, the Jazz Camp provides participants the opportunity to study closely with professional jazz musicians, top regional jazz educators, and a nationally acclaimed jazz artist (to be determined). The week concludes with concerts for family and friends in the 1000-seat Faye Spanos Concert Hall. |
| California Music Academy | CMA for Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble and Combos will resume at California State University, Fullerton. Instructors include professional educators, solo artist, composers and conductors. The tuition is $200 and covers the camp and its regular activities, with the final concert. Students must be able to stay for the full session including all rehearsals and performances. |
| California State Summer School for the Arts | The Music Program is designed to refine and strengthen individual creative, technical and interpretive performance skills and to broaden each student‘s overall perspective of the arts. Open to vocalists, composers and instrumentalists, the program is unique in the United States. John Adams, David Cherry and Organic Groove, the Kronos Quartet, Karl Berger, Paul Dresher, Yusef Lateef, Lou Harrison, The Persuasions, Pauline Oliveros, The Poncho Sanchez Band, Obo Addy and Kukrudu, Sukay, The Tibetan Monks of the Drepung Loseling Monastery and Michael Wolff are just some of the internationally recognized musicians and ensembles who have performed and taught in the Music Program over the years. |
| Cazadero Performing Arts Camp | Cazadero Performing Arts Camp Youth Music program offers a summer program unlike any other. We offer four youth music sessions, carefully configured for age appropriate ability levels for grades 5-12 from June to August. Cazadero features 21 extraordinary conductors from top orchestra, band and jazz programs from around the country, and outstanding professional faculty and instructors. Standing ovations, sleeping under the stars and best friends to last a lifetime are all part of the Caz experience. Situated in an exquisite old redwood grove 2 hours from the Bay Area in Western Sonoma County, Cazadero has inspired children and families for generations! |
| Florida State University Music Camps | Since 1942 the FSU School of Music is proud to host one of the oldest and most comprehensive summer music camp programs in the country. Each of our fourteen camps is designed to enhance the musical, educational, and social skills of elementary, junior high/middle school, and high school students of all abilities. Our camp offerings include a variety of bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles, chamber music ensembles, and choral ensembles that focus on large and small performing ensembles. Other camps such as our piano and vocal solo camps, or our double reed and double bass camps focus on individual and specialized musical experiences. All of our camps offer experiences in music theory, private lessons, conducting, guitar, steel drum, and other multicultural music ensembles.Additionally, we offer our Marching Band Leadership Camp that provides hands-on experiences in developing specific leadership skills. |
| Idyllwild Arts | Idyllwild Arts, formerly known as Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, ISOMATA, offers a wide range of arts and camping experiences. Piano, art and theater workshops accept students as young as 9 year of age. For the older students, intensive programs for Symphonic Band, Chamber Music, Festival Choir, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Orchestra are offered. The Jazz Workshops include big bands, combos, music theory, arranging, improvising and master classes. The staff includes many performing and recording artists. |
| UCLA Music Department | UCLA‘s Department of Music invites experienced high school musicians to participate in a new college-level summer music academy in Los Angeles. Led by UCLA Department of Music faculty, the Summer Music Academy will offer students programs in band (including piano) and a strings program focusing on chamber music. |
| Jazz Camp West | Jazz CampWEST is a eight-day journey into jazz for instrumentalists, vocalists, drummers and dancers held in the beautiful redwoods of La Honda in Northern California.The combination of workshops, personalized instruction, student performances, faculty concerts, late night jams, and beautiful surroundings with new friends and mentors creates an inspiring and memorable week. |
| Northern California Flute Camp | NCFC is a one-week, intensive program designed to educate and inspire you flutists in flute performance. Located in beautiful Carmel Valley, NCFC is open to serious flute students ages 12-18. Ensemble and solo performance, master class and individual coaching are offered. |
| Stanford Jazz Workshop | Jazz Camp is designed for participants aged 12—17, playing jazz at beginning to advanced levels. Jazz Camp is open to players of all instruments, including vocalists and strings (violin, viola and cello). Jazz Camp immerses participants in a focused, supportive environment and provides an opportunity to study and play with other young players and a prestigious faculty of professional musicians and top educators. Classes include theory, musicianship, jazz history, jazz ensemble playing, performance and private lessons. Participants develop skills useful in many musical genres. |
