COURSE OVERVIEW
The English Fundamentals 7 is designed to teach students the skills necessary for learning about Literature, Grammar/Parts of Speech, and Writing skills. The curriculum includes traditional, along with some of the latest techniques for facilitating the learning of literature, grammar and writing to our enthusiastic learners. Students participating in this course will not only improve their writing skills, but will also have the opportunity to improve their exposure to the California standards of the 7th grade English curriculum. It is important that these participating students;
1. Complete all of their English homework independently
2. Complete and participate in all classroom activities and assignments
3. Attend school daily
If they do so, they should have a happy and successful school year of English.
Grades are based on the students' individual effort, activity participation, completion of assignments, and assignment grades.
Supplies
The following items are optional for this class:
- Notebook or binder with class dividers
- Blank sheets of lined paper (college ruled)
- 2 Sharpened pencils
- 1 Box of colored pencils
- 1 Highlighter
- 1 Earl Warren Assignment Planner (free at office)
Every Monday, planners and recorded homework are checked .
Homework
Homework will periodically be given from Monday through Thursday. Due dates will be announced, posted on the assignment board, and web weekly. In class, assistance with assignment planners/agenda is available. Every week students will have Vocabulary, Grammar, and a Reading Log Due, (assigned on Mondays).
Assignment Heading
All assignments completed for class must have the proper heading in the upper right corner, above the lines. Headings must contain:
First and Last Name For example: Joe Koolaide
Subject and Period Core English 3

Classroom Constitution
Our Classroom Constitution is a list of Room 45 classroom rules. The rules are as follows:
1. Work quietly in class (some students are sensitive to sound)
2. Stay in your seats (unless given permission to leave)
3. Always use positive and kind words
4. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself
Students who respect the Classroom Constitutional rights of others will have the opportunity to participate in one or some the following Rewards systems:
- Praise
Students will receive praise for superior work and behavior
- Class Helper
Students may have time to act as helpers and/or tutors
- Talking Time Breaks
Students are given @ 4 minute break to chat
- Bonus Activity Time (BAT)
Students earn an opportunity to play games
- V.I.P (Very Impressive Persons)
Students whose classroom behavior is so outstanding
that it is impressive, and is a model to everyone else,
then they have a chance to earn their names on the daily
VIP list. Every Friday VIP students can pull a reward from
the classroom "Surprise Bucket"! They might find something
they need for class, or just something to munch on!
