All about Mr. Faist

I have been teaching since 2002 years at Carmel Valley.  Here is a picture of the wonderful science department.  (I am on the bottom right.)

Photography is another one of my passions.  I have been taking pictures for several years and I have accumulated pictures of most of the wildlife I have seen while traveling.  I took this picture of a common dolphin off the coast of Santa Barbara.

I have also been teaching at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla since 2001.  I teach snorkeling camps and discovery labs, while participating in special events and outreach programs throughout the year.  On Sundays, I volunteer as a SCUBA diver in the kelp tank.

In 2005 after school was out last year I got a dog.  He is a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Dakari, meaning happiness.  In this picture he is about 5 pounds but at 4 months old he was 38 pounds.

In June of 2005 I was awarded the "Teacher of the Month" award for San Diego County.  The student in this picture wrote an essay nominating me for the "Teachers are Heroes" contest and I was one of twelve teachers picked for the 2004-2005 school year.

Here is the latest picture of Dakari.  He is now about 100 pounds.
