Subject: Carmel Valley Middle School
Carmel Valley Middle School is one of several schools in the San Dieguito Unified School District located in the northern part of the City of San Diego. The school is located at 3800 Mykonos Lane.
During school hours many motorists have been observed by police officers ignoring traffic regulations while dropping off and picking up students. This occurs primarily in the morning before school starts, and in the afternoon when school ends. Officers enforce any violations observed in an effort to provide for the safety of students and educate the public, but limited staffing levels and responsibilities don’t allow enough time for the presence of officers as frequently as desired.

As a result of numerous traffic complaints and safety concerns motorists wishing to pick-up students after school should be directed to the “Passenger Loading Zone & Waiting Area” located in the parking lot.
Guidelines:
Ø Parents should enter the parking lot off Mykonos Lane. Upon entering the lot drive along the south curb. Follow the signs and road markings along the south curb line and pull ahead forward as far as possible before stopping. This will prevent ‘drop-off’ congestion.
Ø When dropping off/picking up students please make sure they are prepared to exit/enter the car quickly to avoid delays.
Ø After leaving the passenger loading zone please drive forward and exit near the front of the school onto Mykonos Lane.
Ø Vehicles left unattended in the passenger loading zone or waiting area will be ticketed.

Motorists wishing to drop-off and pick-up students before and after school should be directed to use the newly established “Passenger Loading Zone & Waiting Area” located in the parking lot.
Guidelines:
Ø Parents should enter the parking lot off Mykonos Lane. Upon entering the lot enter the passenger loading area. If the loading area is full drive around the parking lot to the south curb line and pull ahead forward as far as possible before stopping.
Ø DO NOT STOP AT ANY TIME IN THE TRAFFIC LANE! This obstructs traffic and is illegal. Violators will be ticketed!
Ø DO NOT DRIVE OVER THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINES TO PASS TRAFFIC! This is hazardous and illegal. Violators will be ticketed!
Ø DO NOT LOAD PASSENGERS WHILE IN THE TRAFFIC LANE! Violators will be ticketed!
Ø Vehicles left unattended in the passenger loading zone or waiting area will be ticketed.
