Music Staff

We are fortunate at CVMS that we have district funding for Artists-in-Residence. These professional musicians augment the music program by coaching small groups of musicians outside of the regular rehearsal.

 

Flute Coach- Elena Yarritu
Residing in Carmel Valley, Dr. Elena Yarritu is an active and highly
accomplished performer and dedicated educator. In addition to an extensive performing and educational experience abroad in Europe, she has earned a DMA from Stony Brook University and an MM degree from Yale University. Dr. Yarritu has studied with many fine artists including Alain Marion, Ransom
Wilson and Carol Wincenc. She has 20 years experience in mentoring young talent and maintains an active flute studio in Carmel Valley. Dr. Yarritu can be heard on the MSR Classics label in her newly released CD, *Scree*, featuring works by Mike Mower and Samuel Zyman. For more detailed

Upper brass Coach- Mark Weed

Mark Weed is a trumpeter born and raised in San Diego. He graduated  from Point Loma Nazarene University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts  degree in Music Theory/Composition. Mark has been teaching band/brass  for 12 years in the San Diego area, as well as performing throughout  the county. Jazz Band and Concert Ensemble are his areas of expertise.
