College Admissions Data
La Costa Canyon High School
Counseling Department
Introduction
These statistics are a summary of the college admissions information supplied by
students in the graduating class of 2007 at La Costa Canyon High School,
Carlsbad, CA. Each senior supplied the names of the colleges or universities at
which he or she was accepted. Overall weighted grade point averages (GPA) and
test scores for each student were taken from school records. For
confidentiality, no student names have been included in this report.
Summary Data per University:
data summarized by school alphabetically. The summaries provide the number of
students from LCCHS who were accepted by that school (N) as well as the minimum,
maximum, and mean for those students’ GPA, ACT, and SAT Reasoning Test composite
scores (note: the SAT composite score used in these data refers to the sum of
the Writing, Critical Reading, and Math subtests).

Additionally, following the evaluative practice of the University of California,
this section presents the same range of data for the sum of each student’s two
highest SAT Subject Test scores.
GPA, SAT, and ACT Charts:
scatter plots of data for universities which accepted four or more LCCHS
students. Two charts appear for each of these schools: one for the SAT
composite score versus GPA and one for the ACT score versus GPA.

It
is hoped that this depiction of the admissions profile of 2007 La Costa Canyon
High School graduates will provide useful ideas for students and parents.
Please note, however, that these figures represent only LCCHS students, and that
it is not possible to represent in this summary the effect of such
campus-specific secondary criteria as extracurricular activities, community
service, or awards in admissions decisions. It is also important to bear in
mind that the admissions profiles for all colleges and universities may change
dramatically with each year’s applicant pool.
