What is the PSAT and how do I sign up for it?
The
PSAT is the practice test for the SAT (Scholastic Achievement Test).
It is offered one time a year in the Fall. The test
is given school-wide. The test will be
administered in one of your scheduled classes. Sign up
at the finance office.
It
is recommended that all students in 9th, 10th and 11th
grade take the PSAT.
Scores are available in mid-January. Students will receive their test
booklets back as well as a score report with information about ways to improve
scores.
What
is the PLAN and how do I sign up for it?
The PLAN is the practice test for the ACT (American College Test). It is offered one time a year, on a Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm (usually in November). It is recommended that all students in 9th and 10th grade take the PLAN. Scores are available in the counseling office in mid-January. Students will receive their test booklets back as well as a score report with information about ways to improve scores. The PLAN also has a career component that can assist you in learning more about what your interests are. How you score on the PSAT and PLAN will help you determine if you should take both the SAT and ACT or only one of them. If you are consistently scoring higher on one of the tests than you may want to take that one. However, if you do want to take both tests (SAT and ACT), you can submit either score/s and the college or university you are applying to will consider your highest score. Furthermore, if you take a test more than once all of your scores for each test sitting will be sent. You are not able to choose which score/s to send. Again, the college or university will consider your highest score. Testing Timeline
