Thank you!!!
Dear Students & Parents
I'm looking forward to an exciting semester with all my budding artist and would like to take some time to introduce you our program. Please read the information below and discuss it with your child/parent.
During the course of the semester we will be studying the fundamental elements of art through a variety of mediums and projects. We will also be studying art history as it relates to the projects we are doing. I hope that through a dedication & belief in him/herself, that each artist will discover an enjoyment in and an appreciation for Art and develop a desire to pursue Art in the future.
Sketchin' at Home
(Otherwise known as Homework)
Students are required to turn in one or more quality sketches every block day. Approximately one half of the sketches will be free choice and one half will be assigned. Students will be told of the specific assignment on the Friday before it is due. It will also be listed on this website under the "Homework" button above. Students should spend at least 30 minutes drawing each week. Of course, the more time a student spends drawing, the better his/her drawings will become and the more s/he will enjoy art. Extra time and additional sketches will be greeted with open arms.
Grades
Individual projects and sketches will be grades on the following:
*Effort
*Creativity
*Fullfilling the Requirements
(And turing in your Art with your name on it!)
*Craftsmanship
Late projects are not given a lower grade because everyone works at their own rate. Faster is not necessarily better. However, if a students does not finish a project by the due date, s/he will need to spend time outside of class working in order to catch up. Any project that is not turned in by he end of the grading period will be calculated as a zero. Late homework sketches will earn half credit, but may be turned in anytime during the semester once late without loosing more points. Students may come in most any day during lunch to work on Art, provided they let me know they are coming.
Extra Credit
Students may do any art project or sketch they choose to for extra credit. Extra credit cannot take the place of a missing project, but it can boost the grade of existing projects. However, occasionally an alternative project may be assigned to a specific student for a special reason.
Rules, Rules Rules:
1. Respect everyone all the time!
2. Take good care of the room & all the art materials. ( Clean-up after yourself. If you loose or break it you pay for it.)
3. Have a positive attitude!
4. Be on task (Give 100 percent of yourself)
5. Keep your hands to yourself and your own belongings. (Duh)
Rewards:
The class period that earns the most points during the month will receive a reward such as:
* watching a movie & having a taste treat snack while working on art or
*Enjoying a treat at the park
*?????
Consequences of Breaking a Rule:
1. Warning
2 Lunch cleaning detention (You do get to eat first. There'll be no starving here)
3. Parent contact
4. Office referral
5. Consequences may vary to fit the crime.
If a student is assigned detention, s/he may serve the time that day or the following day. If the student missies a detention, s/he will be given a referral to the office. Referrals go on the student's permanent record.
Lost or Damaged Art Materials
