| The
La Costa Canyon High School Media Center is equipped
with two computer labs and a total of sixty-eight
student workstations and two staff workstations.
All workstations are equipped with Internet access,
Microsoft's Office Suite, including Word, Excel,
and Powerpoint, as well as some class specific software
programs and a subscription to Grolier
Online. Resources include online dictionaries and encyclopedias, full-text
newspaper and magazine databases, homework help,
lesson plan resources for teachers, and much more.
Students may print any educational materials or
school assignments. Students are given a
printing account balance of $5 per semester.
Computers
are normally available from 7:10 am to 3:15 pm.
Students may access computers for homework,
research or email before school, at break,
lunch or after school. During classtime, teachers
may reserve labs for their entire class for one
hour periods or send a few students with a pass
to use computers. Classes with reservations always
have priority access to computers.
Students
should remember to abide by the conditions of
their signed Acceptable Use Policy on file with
the district. Also, keep in mind that computer
workstations may be monitored. Violations
which may result in loss of computer privileges
include, among others, downloading of any material,
playing games of any kind, participating in chat
rooms, and viewing inappropriate websites. If
in doubt, ask before you do it.
Students
or staff who have forgotten a password, have any
questions or need help in the computer labs, can
get help from the library staff or the computer
tech staff.
