The California Teacher Performance Standards outline the skills needed to be an effective classroom teacher. These standards include the following: engaging and supporting all students in learning, creating and maintaining an effective environment for student learning, understanding and organizing subject matter for student learning, planning instruction and designing learning experiences for all students, assessing student learning, and developing as a professional educator. I take great pride in the fact that I have meet all of the above standards because it is no easy feat. A good teacher must be well-rounded in all of the above standards. I am committed to understanding and mastering these standards.
Perhaps the most difficult task to accomplish is meeting the needs of all learners. Especially in California, we have very diverse classrooms and students with a variety of needs. A differentiated (personalized) approach to teaching provides strategies that can help meet the needs of every student.
In addition, I am effective at addressing the California Standards for Mathematics. I feel that I am successful at dealing with the struggle to meet all of the standards in a manner that doesn't overwhelm the students.
