Progress report grades are calculated approximately every five weeks (in-class grade printouts occur more frequently). QuarterGrades are mailed home every ten weeks. The semester grade is based on a weighted average of points earned over the entire semester -- including a final exam (worth 20% of the semester grade). Reminder: You must pass this course in order to graduate and in order to walk in the graduation ceremony as a Senior. Web Grade: All grades will be posted on the Internet for easy record keeping and will be accessible by Username and Password provided by instructor.
TESTS: approximately 35-40% of overall grade. You are permitted to make-up two missed chapter exams per quarter at the end of each quarter. On-line tests: these will be automatically recorded.
QUIZZES: approximately 5% of overall grade. There are no make-ups for missed quizzes. However, your score on the next scheduled quiz will also replace the previously missed quiz. On-line quizzes: these will be for mastery and self testing..
HOMEWORK: approximately 15% of overall grade. Late homework is not accepted. Excused work is due the day after you return to class. Long term illness or extended excused absences will be handled on an individual basis. Late On-line Assignments follow the same rule. Start on these as early in the week as possible so that any problems or questions, which arise, can be resolved before the due date. Don't be afraid to ask for help - the earlier the better.
PROJECTS & REPORTS: approximately 25-30% of overall grade. A variety of mini oral and written research projects are part of this course. Topics and deadlines TBA. On-Line Projects will be posted with chapter and unit assignments.
CLASS PARTICIPATION: approximately 5-10% of overall grade. Each student will be evaluated on their degree of daily preparation and level of participation in class discussion and group activity. On-line Participation: this will consist of threaded discussion groups and grades will be based on the following: logging on a minimum of 3 or more times a week, contributing to weekly discussions - minimum of 3 postings per week will give a 70% grade for this segment of the class - and quality of contributions to weekly discussions.
