What's current...

The annual food drive has been a great success! Last year we were able to donate 8,400 food items to the Encinitas Community Resource Center. This year we exceed that by getting them 9,508 food items. The students of Diegueno really showed they care for their community and make Diegueno teachers and staff very proud.

As part of the deal, teachers will have to do the following as a reward to the students' efforts.

  • Eat Crickets
  • Mr.Shockney gets a blue and gold mohawk
  • DNO Rock Band plays during a tug-of-war match - teachers vs students
  • The teachers dress-up for the classic humilation of a Doo-Dah Parade

What does the ASB class do?

The ASB class works hard to accomplish many different tasks. Students of the class are involved in planning lunch time activities, dances, spirit week, teacher appreciation week, helping sell items at the lunch counters, in addition to regular school work. The students selected to be a part of this class must have A's and B's on their report cards, have a good attendance record and be willing to earn a minumum of 50 hours of community service in one semester. The class is organized into committees and officiers who focus their attention and efforts toward specific projects. Additionally, ASB has a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer who handle important tasks and run the class on a daily basis.

Outside of the daily class and projects, the students meet to discuss how they would like to help make the campus better for all students. Over the past few years, ASB has supported the following events:

* Clean Campus Program (Friday Deejay) * English Department's Spelling Bee * History Department's Geography Bee * Math Department's Pi Day * School Dances * Spirit Week/Day * Character Counts * 8th Grade Disneyland Trip * Magazine Drive Fundraiser * Monthly Cougar Pride Parties * PE Department's Spring Basketball Tournament and Dodgeball Tournament *

Diegueno's Got Clubs!

Last year students got their friends or people with similar interests to make many different clubs at Diegueno. With the new school year just starting off, lets get some more clubs going.

If you are interested in starting a club, see Mr.Shockney in G4 duing 4th period or lunch. Please print the forms below as you get serious with a club. You will need a constitution and application.

Club Day will be happening again in the spring and hopefully we can show of your club and increase the number of members!
