PREPARING FOR COLLEGE

Read the Counseling Connection
Mira Costa Ambassadors are here!

If you want to go to college, you can! There is at least one college for you, no matter what your intelligence, your skills, your family income, your grades or your test scores. The problem is you have to find those colleges that will be the best fit for you. Our web site and your counselor will help you.

For those of you who will be applying to a UC or CSU campus, you must complete the a-g subject requirements in high school. If you are applying to any other 4 year college you should meet these same requirements. This requirement means that if you have the minimum a-g subjects with a grade of C or better each quarter, you are eligible to apply. If you have more than these minimum subject requirements, you will increase your chances of being accepted. (Ex: 4 years of language is better than the 2 that are required.) Also the higher the grade in each of the quarters of these classes will increase your chances of being accepted. The underline courses provide an extra point in the numerical formula. Click here for the list.
