Scholarships
Money given for exceptional academic achievement, an outstanding skill or talent, and/or financial need.

Scholarships may be awarded by colleges, high schools, organizations, corporations, religious groups, clubs or private individuals.

Most scholarships have specific eligibility requirements.

Private colleges generally award more scholarships than do public colleges.

A scholarship may be for one year only or renewable each year.

Scholarships do not have to be repaid.

All scholarship money must be reported to the financial aid office of the colleges who offered a financial aid package.

Smaller, local scholarships are often easier to get than those from colleges or large corporations.

Some scholarships are based on academics, ethnicity, athletic or artistic talent, volunteer service, leadership, proposed major or some other quality.

Students can search for scholarships in the Counseling Connection, the counseling office, college and career center, newspapers, place of employment, religious organization, or any other organization to which they or their parents belong. Also see Preparing For College on this website.

We advertise many scholarships here on our webpage and in the Counseling Connection. All of the applications (or information about how to apply) will be in the College and Career Center's  "Scholarship" crate. We encourage you to look often as new ones are posted frequently. Be sure you complete the Survey you received at Senior Audits so that Nadine and the SDA Scholarship Committee can help you.

Find good information for merit and sports scholarships.
