Curriculum Seventh grade Life Science and eighth grade Physical Science are aligned with California State Standards.  Both classes use the California Edition of the Prentice Hall textbook.

Grading Policy All classes grade scales for both seventh and eighth grade will vary slightly but will fall between the following values:

Classwork/Homework   20-40%
Assessments              30-40%
Projects/Labs             30-40%
Academic Honesty Please see page of on SDUHSD Academic Honesty Policy in student agenda books or on SDUHSD's web page. 
Cheating, fabrications, unauthorized collaboration, plagiarism, alteration of materials, forgery, or theft will not be tolerated. 
Projects In both seventh and eighth grade science, students will do one or more projects.
Tests and Finals Re-Take tests will not be given.

Seventh Grade:  At the end of each semester, students will be given the opportunity to take a final to replace their lowest test score of the semester.

Eighth Grade:  At the end of each semester, all eighth grade students will take a final.  The score will count toward their grade; it will not replace a score as it does in seventh grade. 
Make-up work/Tests If a student was absent, they will be given the opportunity to turn in the work that they missed within one week of their return to class. 
If students are absent when a test was given they will take a makeup test when they return to science class.
Late-work Late work will not be accepted.  
Each semester students will be given one homework pass that can be used for work that is not completed by the due date.   
Saturday Seminar Students who are given the opportunity to attend Saturday Seminar  may  study and work on current assignments while having a middle school credentialed teacher available for questions.
There will be no retake tests, late work, or extra assignments given for credit.
Extra Credit Opportunities for extra credit will be provided at individual teacher's discretion and will not exceed 3% of the total semester grade.
