Programs

  • Student Success Services is a team approach to assess needs and develop programs that address the well-being of our Torrey Pines High School students. Programs include support groups, crisis intervention, teacher in service, individual counseling, parent forums and student education. Click here for more information.

  • Academic counseling to plan and schedule students’ high school programs, discuss graduation requirements, interpret standardized test results and plan for post high school opportunities. Click here for Junior and Senior Timelines for College Admissions.

  • College and Career Center contains computers, videos and printed materials for researching careers, vocational programs, colleges, financial aid, testing, and scholarships.

  • Peer Assistant Listeners (PALS) are specially trained students who "listen with a heart." They meet individually with students and make group presentations to promote the physical, emotional and social well being of the student body. PALS meet regularly with students new to the school to help them adjust and connect to TPHS.

  • Support Groups are offered to address such issues as stress reduction, eating disorders, relationships, tobacco and other drug use, grief and loss, and new students. Students can refer themselves or others by speaking with a counselor or completing a support group form in the PALS office. Parents may also refer their students by speaking with a counselor.

  • College Night  March 14th, 2007 6:30pm It is designed to help students prepare for college. Students and parents can attend workshops on various aspects of the college process. For example: Financial aide, advice from counseling, writing the college essay, colleges for students with disabilities, etc.

  • Career Expo May 31st, 2007 During school.

  • The Counseling Office Bulletin is the weekly newsletter published every Monday by the department. Read it to find out about counseling events, important deadlines, college visits, admissions and scholarship information and much more. It can be found in the Counseling Resource Center. SENIORS should check it weekly to learn about scholarship opportunities.

  • UC San Diego Academic Intervention and Outreach Programs UCSD researchers and faculty and San Diego high school students have designed a program that helps young people avoid alcohol/drug use and problems.
