CANYON CREST ACADEMY PROUDLY PRESENTS “LYLAS”

In its first-ever production, Canyon Crest Academy High School's Envision Dance program will perform an original show entitled LYLAS, an acronym for Love Ya Like A Sister, on November 16 and 17 at 7:00pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla.  The show, written and collaboratively choreographed by Tracy Yates the Envision Dance Coordinator, centers around  two friends, the events that lead to the break up of their friendship and the ensuing emotions they face as they deal with the loss. Tickets are $5.00 for students and $10.00 for adults general admission (no reserved seating.) Traves Butterworth, artistic director of Butterworth Dance company, has graciously choreographed 3 emotionally charged pieces along with Rayna Stohl, a BDC dancer, who has choreographed a poignant piece documenting the burgeoning friendship between the two main characters.  Yvonne Hernandez of Eveoke Dance Theatre choreographs an entertaining hiphop piece complete with an unorthodox use of hairspray.  The production features the talents of the following Canyon Crest students:  principal dancers Xochi Holt, Lindsey Huber, Maddie La Rue, Susanna Marshall and corp dancers Ashley Abed, R. Brent Burbank III, Meghan Burton, Alice Cash, Melinda Crandall, Heidi Curry, Roxana Dhada, Chelsea Dodd, Amanda Gammelgard, Alyssa Gosselin, Kylie Greene, Sarah Gunshol, Alexandra Harris, Amanda Harris, Ellene Hartounian, Amy Havin, Kelsey Knox, Alexandra Korneitchouk, Rachel Luce, Alora Manley, Brooke Miranda, Susanna Paul, Jessica Petrella, Skye Simonelli, Valerie Stewart, and Clare Viglione.  The production is made possible through the generous support of the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, a partnership of students, parents and staff which facilitates community involvement and provides financial support for CCA educational programs and priorities.  Canyon Crest Academy is located at 5951 Village Center Loop Road north from the Carmel Valley Road exit off the 56 Freeway.

Envision at Canyon Crest Academy delivers a range of in-depth courses and experiences that allows students to develop expertise, self-confidence and creativity in a variety of artistic disciplines. Envision enhances CCA culture by creating an environment that is rich in the arts.  All students at CCA who take a class in the visual or performing arts are participants in Envision and are given the opportunity to learn from professional teaching artists provided by partners to the Envision program.  For more information on Canyon Crest Academy, Envision at CCA, and the CCA Foundation, please visit the school’s website at .
