March 20 Completed registration packet due to 6th grade teacher. Please review each item carefully, attach the checklist to the top, and return in the envelope.
May 11-15 Math placement testing in 6th grade classrooms (TBA)
May 26 Math and English class placements mailed home.
May 29 All parent requests for PreAlg Honors and/or English 7 Honors (for those students not placed into these classes by the screening process) due in Counseling at Carmel Valley Middle School. All course placement decisions will be final after June 12th. We do not re-evaluate students at the end of summer.
5/30 or 6/1 Those students who earn high scores on the math placement test will be invited to take the Algebra Honors Challenge Exam (these students will receive the invitation to take the Algebra Honors Challenge Exam in the letter mailed home with math and English placement results by May 26th).
7th grade students are not allowed to enroll in Algebra Honors, unless they pass this additional test. You must complete this test on one of the two dates we will offer, and we will not administer the test again.
This is your only opportunity to challenge into Algebra Honors as a 7th grader.
August 19 Student Orientation (see registration form in packet)
Special Parent Sessions will be held in the morning as well.
September 1 SCHOOL BEGINS. Students will pick up class schedules before school in the PAC.
