March 1- April 3 Enrollment “window”
Download “Checklist” and all required registration forms from the CVMS website. When you are certain you have all the necessary documents completed, make an appointment with the registrar, Jorie Rankin, (481-8221 x3005), to return your registration paperwork. Jorie will also help you schedule a date for the math placement test in April. You must complete the enrollment process before placement testing. Current 7th graders (applying for grade 8) who can provide a transcript which shows completion of Pre-Algebra or Algebra this year do not need to take this test. Also, please provide standardized test scores.
Counselors will call you with the placement test results.
If you are interested in Honors Courses in math and English, please consult with the counselor when you receive the call about placement test results.
5/30 or 6/1 Those 7th students who earn high scores on the math placement test will be invited to take the Algebra Honors Challenge Exam.
7th grade students are not allowed to enroll in Algebra Honors unless they pass this additional test. You must complete this test on one of the two dates we will offer, and we will not administer the test again. This is your only opportunity to challenge into Algebra Honors as a 7th grader.
8th graders may choose to enroll in Algebra Honors if they have completed a Pre- Algebra course. However, please review the curriculum on the CVMS web page “course descriptions”. This will be a year long commitment.
June 12 All course placement decisions will be final after June 12th. We do not re-evaluate students at the end of summer.
August 19 Student Orientation (see registration form in packet)
Special Parent Sessions will be held in the morning as well.
September 1 SCHOOL BEGINS. Students will pick up class schedules before school in the PAC.
